DNA extracted from infected cacao plants, received from Ghana served as a template for PCR amplification followed by Sanger sequencing of the ~7,000bp genome. Six sets of overlapping primers were designed, amplifying ~1200bp amplicons. The consensus sequence of CSSV (GH75) was determined.

A separate and dedicated CSSV quarantine unit was prepared to enable our development work on the virus cross-protection to proceed beyond the re-sequencing.
